Wasabi writing club is an online writing community based in South Korea. We aims to provide services that support people who are willing to write. Our mission is to build a healthy, safe and sustainable community that encourages people to discover their own stories.
Wasabi takes its name from Wabi-Sabi, a sense of beauty rooted in the tea practice that sees values in roughness, incompleteness and imperfection. We aim to communicate our philosophy in a playful and energetic way, which is reflected in fonts, colours and logo design.
Visuals can say a lot about a brand. Every visual material should be thoughtfully planned and designed based on how we want to communicate.
Not only visuals, but also the way we write, the rules we set, and what we offer should all also be aligned to clearly convey our values.
We basically provide a community service, and I’m learning on the different factors that matter in maintaining a safe and healthy community.
As a designer of the brand, I see it as a valuable experience to have creative freedom in designing service touchpoints, branding, the design system, and visual materials that communicate with people.
To move forward, I’m eager to explore new possibilities both by expanding the service with a bigger scope and in discovering different ways to interact with text.
